Detailed & Finished * Ready to Display * Cast Plastic Models These finished plastic model airplanes come with a pedestal base for displaying in a flying position. This allows you to display the models with the gear either up or down. They can also be displayed without the included pedestal base. The colors are very nice as are all the markings. We like them for these features and because they are very inexpensive! These models are great to display for yourself. They also make wonderful gifts and are an inexpensive way to interest the younger generation to aviation. The warbird models all feature a propeller that spins via a mechanical gear drive when the plane is mounted on the base. The jet models will move up and down, simulating different angles of attack, by pulling a string attached to their base. And, they have functional landing gear. A Few Notes Concerning Scale The scale of the WWII models is 1:44 and 1:48 with the exception of the B-17 which is 1:100th. The 1:48 scale models would fit well in your "O-Scale" train layout. Most of the jets are 1:72 scale, although the Phantom is 1:64, the NATO fighters are 1:94, and MIG-29's are 1:109th and the SR-71 is 1:110th scale (the SR-71 is an excellent rendition of this famous plane). The commercial airliners: Lockheed 10 Electra is 1:58 scale, Douglas DC-3 is 1:96 scale and the Douglas DC-7 is 1:130th scale. Dare charges a flat $6.00 fee to help cover shipping charges whether you order one item or a hundred. |
